Report: Mayweather bets $3M on Michigan

Floyd (Money) Mayweather Jr. is certainly living up to his nickname.

According to USA Today, the 35-year-old Grand Rapids, Mich., native placed several bets totaling roughly $3 million on the Michigan Wolverines to cover the 14-point spread against the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in their opening game of the NCAA football season.

Mayweather is known for placing large bets on sporting events and, most recently, reportedly won $1.8 million on a Los Angeles Clippers-Memphis Grizzlies playoff game last April.

Michigan and Alabama square off on Saturday at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas in the Cowboy Stadium Classic game.

The contest will be the first meeting between the two teams since 1999, when the Wolverines won a nail biter 35-34 in overtime.
