MONTREAL — Rising middleweight prospect David Lemieux is set to face former WBA champion Joachim Alcine in a 12-round bout Dec. 10 at the Bell Centre.

The 22-year-old Lemeiux (25-1, 24 kockouts) will defend the minor WBC international title against 35-year-old Alcine (32-2-1, 19 KO) in a battle of Montreal fighters.

It will be Lemieux’s first bout since he parted ways with trainer Russ Anber in favour of Marc Ramsay. And it is his first bout since suffering his only defeat by seventh round TKO to Marco Antonio Rubio on April 8 in Montreal.

"I wanted an important fight for my comeback," Lemieux said in a statement. "This time, if I need to go 12 rounds I’ll be ready."

Alcine won the WBA light middleweight belt in 2007 and defended it once before losing in a sixth round knockout in 2008 to Daniel Santos. In his last two bouts, he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Alfredo Angulo in 2010 and fought to a draw in August with Jose Medina.

The co-feature has hard-hitting lefthander Adonis Stevenson (15-1) of Longueuil, Que., defending his minor NABA super-middleweight belt against Aaron Pryor Jr. (16-4). The IBF Interncontnental and NABO belts will also be on the line. Pryor has never been stopped before the limit.

The fights are part of the Fast and Furious series staged by promoter Groupe Yvon Michel.

A GYM card Thursday night in Montreal saw light welterweight Dierry Jean (20-0) win by 10 round unanimous decision over Francisco Lorenzo (37-11).
