NEW YORK — Nick Diaz will defend his Strikeforce welterweight title against Brazilian Evangelista Cyborg in San Jose on Jan. 29.

Also on the HP Pavilion card, Ronaldo (Jacare) Souza (13-2 with one no contest) will make the first defence of his middleweight title against (Ruthless) Robbie Lawler (18-6 with one no contest).

Former NFL star Herschel Walker (1-0) takes on heavyweight Scott Carson (4-1) while Roger Gracie (3-0) faces light-heavyweight Trevor Prangley (23-6-1).

Walker and Carson were originally scheduled to meet Dec. 4 but the bout was postponed after the 48-year-old Walker sustained a cut above his eye in training session.

Diaz (23-7 with one no contest) has won his last eight fights. Last time out, he earned a decision over K.J. Noons.

Cyborg (18-13), who is married to Strikeforce women’s middleweight champion Cris Cyborg, has 11 knockouts in his 18 wins. In his last outing, the Brazilian scored a first round TKO (punches) over Marius (The Whitemare) Zaromskis.
