Movistar cycling team renews sponsorship deal

MADRID, Spain — Spanish telecommunications company Movistar has renewed its sponsorship of the Movistar cycling team for another three years.

Movistar is the top-ranked team on the World Tour after Benat Intxausti won the Tour of Beijing on Wednesday.

Movistar’s Nairo Quintana finished runner-up in the Tour de France this year, and Alejandro Valverde was third at the Spanish Vuelta.

The Movistar star team has competed in 208 races in 16 countries since the phone company began its sponsorship in 2011.
