NEW YORK — Another lacrosse honour for Calgary Roughnecks star Jeff Shattler.

Shattler was named the National Lacrosse League’s most valuable player Thursday. Earlier this week, Shattler was named the league’s Transition Player of the Year as well as a first-team All Pro.

Shattler led all transition players in goals (29), assists (46) and points (75). He also finished tied with Dane Dobbie for the Calgary scoring lead.

A transition player in lacrosse is one who is versatile enough to play at both ends of the floor and remain in action even when there’s a change in possession.

And Shattler picked up 93 loose balls and forced 12 turnovers in helping Calgary register a league-best 11-5 record.

"Jeff has become the type of player that we can trust in any position on the floor, in any situation of the game", said Roughnecks GM Brad Banister. "Even strength, power play, killing a penalty, he can do it all.

"It’s been amazing to watch his development as a player and a team leader in the four seasons that we’ve had him here in Calgary, and at age 26 he still has his best lacrosse ahead of him. It’s a tremendous honour for Jeff and the Roughnecks organization to have him win this award."
