Joel Embiid continues to make headlines amidst a disappointing season for the Philadelphia 76ers.
The NBA announced Friday night that Embiid has been fined $75,000 for making obscene gestures on the playing court during Philadelphia's 118-114 Christmas Day win over the Boston Celtics.
The league said the incident came during the first half of the game.
Embiid, 30, has only played in nine games for the 11-17 76ers this season, averaging 21.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game on 43 per cent shooting from the floor.
The 2022-23 NBA MVP has dealt with multiple injuries this season and was suspended three games for an altercation with a reporter in early November.
Embiid was also ejected from the 76ers' win over the San Antonio Spurs on Dec. 23 after drawing two technical fouls.
Philadelphia returns to the court on Saturday night in Utah for the second game of a six-stop road trip.
