There have been some legendary performances put on in Madison Square Garden, and on Wednesday night, Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam joined that list.
Siakam scored a career-high 52 points, becoming just the fifth player in Raptors history to achieve the feat, joining Vince Carter, DeMar DeRozan, Terrence Ross and Fred VanVleet.
He also became just the fourth active player to score 50-plus in the Garden, as LeBron James, Steph Curry and James Harden are the only current players to have done so. Not bad company to keep.
What makes the achievement even more impressive is it came at a time when his team needed it the most. Losers of six straight, and with pressure mounting, Siakam's 52 carried the Raptors to a much-needed 113-106 win, snapping the Knicks' eight-game win streak in the process.
Oh yeah, Siakam also pitched in nine rebounds and seven assists -- you know, just to prove he can do more than just score.
It's safe to say that anytime an NBA player goes for 50 it's a big deal across the league. But against the Knicks in New York, well that's just about as big as it gets.
