Canadian singer/songwriter and Grammy Award winner Alessia Cara will be among the artists performing prior to the 2021 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, March 7 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

Cara became the first Canadian ever to win a Grammy for "best new artist," earning the award in 2018 — a year in which she received three other nominations.

The 24-year-old from Brampton, Ont., has also won five Juno Awards and two MTV Video Music Awards.

Her latest project, an EP released in July 2020 under the title, This Summer: Live Off The Floor, will see its proceeds donated to Save the Children.

For the all-star game, Cara will perform the Canadian national anthem remotely from Toronto.

Seven-time Grammy winner Gladys Knight will sing the U.S. national anthem live from Atlanta, while several Historically Black College and University (HBCU) groups — including marching bands from Grambling State and Florida A&M — will perform remotely throughout the evening.
