The Milwaukee Bucks will look to avoid losing three games in a row for the first time in over three months when they hit the hardwood on Sunday night for Game 3 of their NBA Finals clash with the Phoenix Suns as 4-point home favourites on the NBA odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Milwaukee’s recent road woes continued with Thursday’s 118-108 loss to Phoenix that leaves the team facing a 2-0 series deficit heading into Sunday night’s matchup at Fiserv Forum.
Thursday’s defeat marked the Bucks’ third loss in their past four outings, and puts them squarely in desperation mode as the series shifts to Milwaukee. However, the Bucks have been steady performers on home court, posting straight-up wins in seven of eight during this year’s NBA playoffs, and in 15 of their past 16 overall home contests.
Things have not gone quite as well for Milwaukee at sports betting sites during the team’s current steady run at home. While the Bucks have covered the spread in four of their past five home contests, they have struggled to reward bettors when set as slim home chalk, going 3-3 against the spread in their past six when favoured at home by four or fewer points. That trend extends to recent home dates with Phoenix, whom the Bucks have defeated SU in four of their last six home meetings while going a shaky 4-10 ATS in the Suns’ past 14 visits.
None of those trends have helped lift the Bucks on the NBA playoff series prices, where they have dipped to +350 underdogs, well back of the +150 series-opening odds they sported of claiming their first NBA championship in 50 years.
Now riding a three-game SU and ATS win streak, the Suns travel to Milwaukee for Game 3 as +155 moneyline underdogs. The Suns are coming off yet another strong performance in Game 2, with their 118-108 victory marking their third straight win by a double-digit margin.
While Chris Paul has captured the spotlight with a postseason performance that has lifted him to the top of the NBA Finals MVP odds, it was Devin Booker who led the attack in Thursday’s win. The 24-year-old rising star topped the Suns with 31 points, and now sits second to Paul as a rapidly improving +180 wager. Booker has also been a steady performer in previous road dates with the Bucks, averaging 28.3 points per game in his past three visits to Milwaukee, capped by a 24-point, seven-rebound effort in the Suns’ 128-127 win back on April 19.
