The Celtics will be shorthanded as they look to snap a two-game skid.
Boston centre Kristaps Porzingis and guard Jrue Holiday have been ruled out as the team gets ready for a matchup against the Indiana Pacers on Friday night, head coach Joe Mazzulla announced.
Porzingis suffered a left ankle sprain in the Celtics' Christmas Day game against the Philadelphia 76ers. He played only 13 minutes in the contest, finishing with nine points, two rebounds and three assists.
The 29-year-old has averaged 18.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in 11 contests this year. He missed the first 17 games of the season after undergoing foot surgery in the off-season.
Holiday, meanwhile, missed the team's Christmas game with a right shoulder impingement. It's unclear how or when the injury occurred.
The 34-year-old is scoring only 12.2 points this season, his lowest mark since his rookie year in the 2009-10 season, but has been a solid contributor elsewhere on both ends, averaging 4.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 0.9 steals in 26 games.
The Celtics play host to Indiana on the back of a two-game losing streak and have lost three of their last four. Despite the slow stretch, they remain second in the Eastern Conference with a 22-8 record.
