Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart has been the 2022-23 NBA Hustle Award winner.
Smart is the first player to win the award in consecutive seasons and has taken home the honour in three out of the seven years since its introduction to NBA's awards.
The Hustle Award is given to a player that impacts winning in ways that don't show up in the box score. NBA tracks "hustle stats" including deflections, loose balls recovered, charges drawn, screen assists, contested shots and box-outs that factor into the award.
The 2021-22 NBA Defensive Player of the Year helped guide the Celtics to a 57-25 record, claiming the second seed in the Eastern Conference.
The 29-year-old averaged 11.5 points, 6.3 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 steals across 61 games for Boston this season.
