Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard made his return to the lineup Wednesday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, and did so wearing a mask that covered most of his face.
Leonard had missed the two previous games due to a mouth laceration he sustained Friday against the Denver Nuggets, when he was accidentally elbowed in the face by teammate Serge Ibaka. He was seen bleeding on the floor and required eight stitches on the wound.
The transparent mask left Leonard’s eyes and nose exposed, but covered his jaw, cheek bones and forehead. It didn’t seem to bother him though has he led the team with 28 points in a 128-105 win.
The Clippers had two very different performances in Leonard’s absence. On Sunday, the team was blown out by the Dallas Mavericks 124-73 but on Tuesday they rebounded to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 124-101.
