The Los Angeles Clippers have signed three-time CEBL MVP Xavier Moon to a 10-day hardship deal, the team announced Sunday.
Moon, who has been playing with the Agua Caliente Clippers on the NBA G League this season, is the third CEBL product to be signed by an NBA team in recent days, joining Javin DeLaurier and Cat Barber.
The 26-year-old, whose uncle is former Raptor Jamario Moon, played for Northwest Florida State and Morehead State in college, before embarking on a professional career that brought him to France, Israel, Canada and the G League.
In three seasons since the CEBL began play, Moon has been named league MVP each season and won two CEBL titles with the Edmonton Stingers — earning finals MVP honours on each occasion.
The shifty six-foot-two point guard with a devastating outside game led the CEBL in points (19.2), assists, (4.5) and 3-point percentage (50.0) in 2020. He’s averaging 12.2 points and 6.8 assists with Agua Caliente this season.
Moon has yet to play in the NBA.
