Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has erupted for an NBA Finals-record six three-pointers in a quarter to open Game 1 against the Boston Celtics.
The record was previously held by Kenny Smith (1995), Ray Allen (2010) and Curry — who hit five threes in an NBA Finals quarter in both 2015 and 2018.
Curry already owns the NBA record for threes in a Finals game after hitting nine from deep in 2018. Curry also holds the record for most total threes in the NBA Finals, Playoffs and regular season.
Despite his hot shooting to start the game, the Warriors opened with only a 32-28 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Curry is a three-time NBA champion who's widely recognized as the greatest shooter of all-time, but has yet to win a Finals MVP — falling behind teammates Andre Iguodala (2015) and Kevin Durant (2017, 2018) in the voting.
Curry followed up his scorching-hot, 21-point first quarter with a scoreless second frame, and finished the half with three fouls.
The Warriors also fell down 56-54 to the Celtics entering half-time.
