San Antonio Spurs star, and former Toronto Raptor, DeMar DeRozan confirmed a recent report about a confrontation with an intruder at his Los Angeles area home.
The incident, which was first reported by TMZ Sports, was said to involve a man breaking into DeRozan’s home on Nov. 19 and making his way into an area where at least one of DeRozan’s children was at the time.
Upon hearing a commotion, DeRozan raced to the room and came “face to face” with the intruder before chasing the man out of his house, according to TMZ.
“Everything is good,” DeRozan told Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express News. “I grew up in Compton, California. I’ve been through worse.”
DeRozan was not the intruder’s intended target, TMZ’s reporting indicated, as the man was reportedly attempting to find the home of American media personality and celebrity Kylie Jenner. The intruder was arrested and has since been charged with one count of felony burglary.
A restraining order keeping him from going near DeRozan or Jenner’s homes has also reportedly been enacted.
The 31-year-old DeRozan was born in Compton, Calif., where he attended Compton High School and was ranked as one of the top college recruits in America in 2008. He went on to play college basketball at the University of South California in Los Angeles. As an 11-year NBA veteran, DeRozan now often spends off-seasons at his home in Los Angeles.
