While the COVID-19 pandemic is preventing the NBA from holding a Rising Stars game this season, the league has still announced what those rosters would have been and five Canadians have been named to the 10-player World Team.
The Pelicans’ Nickeil Alexander-Walker, the Knicks’ RJ Barrett, the Grizzlies’ Brandon Clarke, the Thunder’s Luguentz Dort and the Warriors’ Mychal Mulder were all named to the roster on Wednesday. The announcement was made on NBA Top Shot and each player named to the cancelled game will get a special moment on Top Shot, which will be available in a new set released during All-Star Weekend.
The Rising Stars game features two teams, the U.S. Team and World Team, made up of first and second-year players in a game normally contested during the all-star festivities. The NBA will still hold an All-Star Game and skills competition this Sunday in Atlanta.
