Former Toronto Raptors forward Otto Porter Jr. has announced his retirement from the NBA.
In a social media post shared Monday by the Utah Jazz, Porter said, "For the past 11 years, I had the chance to live my lifelong dream of playing in the NBA. That dream was capped by winning an NBA championship! Unfortunately, my body is not allowing me to play at the level that I expect of myself, and I have therefore decided to retire."
The Jazz acquired the 30-year-old Porter at the NBA trade deadline this season as part of the deal that brought Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji to the Raptors.
Porter spent parts of the last two seasons with Toronto, averaging 3.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 23 games.
The announcement follows a report earlier Monday by The Athletic’s Shams Charania that the Jazz would be waiving Porter.
He had not suited up for a single game with the Jazz since being acquired.
An NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors in 2022, Porter finishes his career having played 527 games split between the Washington Wizards, Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic, Warriors and Raptors.
