Draymond Green was back on the floor Thursday, eight days after he punched Golden State Warriors teammate Jordan Poole during a practice.
Head coach Steve Kerr had previously announced that Green had been fined but would not be suspended for the incident. Speaking to reporters after Thursday's session, Green was looking ahead.
"We had the conversations about what we need to do moving forward, and we're going to do that," Green said, according to ESPN's Kendra Andrews. "We are not going to continue to hold on to the past."
Green is expected to be in the lineup when the Warriors close the pre-season schedule Friday, and when they open the regular season on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the NBA — especially after video of the punch was obtained by TMZ — and Kerr has called it "the biggest crisis" in his eight years as Warriors coach.
Before Green rejoined the team, Kerr said Tuesday night, leaders from all levels of the organization — including the players — were consulted on how to handle his return.
Green said he used his time away to refocus, without getting specific, and he's planning to work at rebuilding relationships now that he has returned.
"I think it’s making sure our team camaraderie is right," he said, according to NBC Sports. "That’s always important."
