Memphis Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane is set to make his return against the Oklahoma City Thunder after missing over two months with a sprained ankle, head coach Taylor Jenkins announced Saturday.
Bane suffered the injury on Jan. 12 against the Los Angeles Clippers after stepping on Kawhi Leonard's foot while driving toward the basket.
According to ESPN's Tim MacMahon, Bane had been scrimmaging with Memphis' G League team to ramp up for NBA action.
The fourth-year guard had been enjoying a breakout year with the Grizzlies, leading the offence in the absence of Ja Morant, averaging 24.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 47 per cent from the field and 38 per cent from deep.
Memphis went 8-21 in the 29 games without Bane.
Forward Jaren Jackson Jr. will also be available for the Grizzlies on Saturday after missing the team's last two outings with right quad tendonitis.
The Grizzlies are currently 23-44 and sit 13th in the Western Conference. They've been hampered by the absences of key players like Ja Morant, Bane and Jackson Jr. all season long.
