After last season's swamped injury report, this season hasn't been much different for the Grizzlies.
Memphis centre Zach Edey and guard Ja Morant are both considered week to week with ankle and hip injuries, respectively, coach Taylor Jenkins told reporters Tuesday.
Edey suffered the injury in Sunday's 105-90 win over the Denver Nuggets. He rolled his left ankle, returning to the game after the initial incident, only to sustain a similar ankle inversion a second time. He limped to the bench and needed assistance to the locker room, according to Drew Hill of the Daily Memphian.
The Toronto-born big man is averaging 11.5 points and 6.9 rebounds this season, third and first among NBA rookies respectively.
Morant, meanwhile, has missed the team's last five games after suffering a posterior hip subluxation along with multiple associated Grade 1 pelvic muscle strains, the team announced on Nov. 9.
The incident occurred in the third quarter of a Nov. 6 game against the Los Angeles Lakers. As Morant was trying to catch a lob pass from a teammate, he was knocked over mid-air by a Lakers player and fell onto his hip.
Prior to the injury, the 25-year-old had enjoyed an impressive campaign after playing in only nine games last season. He is averaging 20.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 9.1 assists in 27.9 minutes per game.
Memphis is also dealing with injuries to forward GG Jackson (foot), guard Marcus Smart (illness) and rookie wing Cam Spencer (ankle). They're 8-6 this season and sit seventh in the Western Conference.
The Grizzlies host the Nuggets on Tuesday, for their second matchup in three days, this time for NBA Cup group stage action.
