The Miami Heat remain without forward Jimmy Butler as they take on the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of their first-round series, on Wednesday.
Butler sustained the injury in the 7-8 play-in game against the Philadelphia 76ers after landing awkwardly on his leg in the first quarter. He stayed in the game and played 39 minutes, finishing with 19 points, four rebounds and five assists in the loss.
“I fell, he landed and my knee just didn't do well, I guess," Butler said after the game. “I don't know. It's not a good feeling, I can tell you that.”
The 34-year-old underwent an MRI that revealed a right MCL sprain. The Athletic's Shams Charania reported last week that Butler could be out multiple weeks.
Miami lost handily without Butler in Game 1, 114-94. The 20-point blowout was the second-biggest defeat of the opening weekend of NBA post-season play. Boston's Jayson Tatum put up a triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
In the same injury report, the Heat also announced that guard Terry Rozier, who missed Game 1, will also remain out with a neck injury. Rozier has missed the team's last seven games due to neck spasms.
