Former Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry doesn't seem to be considering retirement anytime soon, but when he does, it'll be with the Toronto Raptors.
The six-time all-star with Toronto was back in town on Wednesday for a matchup between his former team and his current Miami Heat, and during media availability, he spoke about his intentions when it's time for him to call it quits.
"I'm definitely retiring as a Raptor," Lowry said. "That's something I've said since I've left here."
Arguably the greatest Raptors player of all time, through his nine seasons he climbed to the top of practically every statistical leaderboard for the franchise. He ranks second only to DeMar DeRozan for games, minutes, and points all-time in Raptors history.
Meanwhile, Lowry leads the franchise in total assists, steals, three-pointers, and triple-doubles.
More important than any of those accolades, Lowry was instrumental alongside Kawhi Leonard in Toronto winning its first-ever NBA championship back in 2019.
So it's safe to say that when the time comes for him to say goodbye to his playing career, the Raptors will gladly sign him to that one-day contract. However, he made it clear that time probably isn't for a little bit.
"I definitely want to play," Lowry said. "I think I still play at a high enough level where I can contribute to a team...and I'm still motivated to play. I still love this game...no farewell today."
