Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair has been named the NBA Basketball Executive of the Year, the league announced Wednesday.
In his third season at the helm of the Kings, McNair helped Sacramento post a 48-34 record, earning the third seed in the Western Conference and snapping a 17-year playoff drought.
After trading rising star Tyrese Haliburton for Domantis Sabonis during the 2021-22 season, McNair continued to re-shape the Kings by adding key pieces Malik Monk, Kevin Huerter and Keegan Murray during the off-season, while also hiring NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown.
McNair received 16 of a possible 30 first-place votes for the award, finishing 35 total points ahead of the second-place finisher, Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman.
The Kings lost out in the first round of the NBA Playoffs after a thrilling seven-game series with the Golden State Warriors.
