New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose has undergone successful surgery on his right ankle and will be re-evaluated in eight weeks, the team announced Wednesday.

Rose was played on Thursday in a 116-103 win against the Houston Rockets and has since missed two games with ankle soreness.

The 2010-11 MVP is averaging 12 points, four assists and three rebounds for New York in 26 games this season.

The 33-year-old has a long injury history including an ACL tear that saw him miss the entire 2012-13 campaign.

The Knicks, before the loss of Rose, have been dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak. They have lost three of their past five games and sit 12th in the East with a 14-17 record as they get set to take on 16-15 Washington Wizards Thursday.
