Tyler Kolek may have learned the hard way that you don't want bad blood with Taylor Swift fans.
The New York Knicks had to release a statement on Friday, walking back comments from Kolek calling Swift the fakest celebrity Knicks fan.
"Taylor Swift has been a Knicks fan for many years, has a long history with Madison Square Garden, and we are incredibly appreciative of her support of the organization," the team said in a statement obtained by SNY's Ian Begley.
Kolek made the initial comments in a livestream with teammate Deuce McBride on the NBA 2K League TikTok page and called her Knicks fandom performative, referencing her courtside appearances at Madison Square Garden during the NBA Finals.
"Maybe Taylor Swift. I don't know if I've seen her at any other games," Kolek said when asked about who the fakest celebrity fan is. "I'm gonna get some hate from the Swifties... I guess she's got a lot going on so she can't come all the time... but it's a little performative."
Known for its jam-packed celebrity row, Swift made a high-profile appearance at MSG during Game 4 of the Finals, sitting beside long-time friends and collaborators Este and Alana Haim, as well as known die-hard Knicks fans Ben Stiller and Mariska Hargitay.
The round prior, however, Swift had been spotted courtside in Cleveland alongside then-fiancée Travis Kelce, supporting his Cavaliers as they took on the Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals.
While her fandom was called into question by Kolek, her history with MSG as a venue is well-documented, having held her wedding to Kelce there over the summer.
