Mavericks' Doncic to play first game with Irving in return to lineup vs. Kings

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic will see the court with new teammate Kyrie Irving in his return to the lineup against the Sacramento Kings.

Doncic hasn't played over the last four games absence after suffering a bruised right back heel on Feb. 2. Doncic stayed in the game after taking a hard fall as he was winding up for a one-handed dunk on a drive and was bumped by Jonas Valanciunas.

This will be the first time Doncic will play with Irving since the Mavericks acquired the star point guard from the Brooklyn Nets. In his first two games since joining Dallas, Irving is averaging 24.5 points, 7.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds, leading the team to consecutive wins.

“I never played with a guy like Kyrie, so it’s obviously going to be a work in progress,” Doncic said about playing with Irving. “But I think it’s going to be fine. We both can play on the ball. For me, I think it’s going to be a learning process, for sure. Outside of my first season, I didn’t play off the ball. But with a guy like him it’s going to be different.
