• NBA announces trio of fines for Nets-Pacers altercation

It turns out an on-court altercation between the visiting Brooklyn Nets and Indiana Pacers on Thursday will cost a couple of players a pretty penny.

The NBA announced on Friday that Nets swingman Trendon Watford and Pacers centre Myles Turner had each been fined $35,000 for their involvement in the incident.

Meanwhile, Canadian-born Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard was levied a $20,000 fine for his role in the matter.

The incident occurred midway through the fourth quarter of what ended up as a 105-99 overtime win for Indiana. Following a basket by the Pacers, Watford and Nembhard were seen getting close and then Watford shoved the Aurora, Ont. native to escalate the matter.

After that, Turner stepped into the scuffle in place of Nembhard before another Canadian-born Pacers player, Bennedict Mathurin, and staff from both sides ultimately diffused tensions.

With no players suspended for the altercation, it'll be interesting to see how things go the next time the Eastern Conference rivals go head-to-head — Saturday for the second leg of a two-game set in Indiana.
