After months of anticipation about Fred VanVleet, O.G. Anunoby and Gary Trent Jr. possibly being on the move, the Toronto Raptors didn't become sellers. In the end, their biggest move was adding Jakob Poeltl.
That's a wrap on deadline day
Whether you liked the moves or not, we thank you for joining us here today.
Until free agency, peace out!
Highlights from Masai Ujiri's press conference
How close were they to making a move?
— Blake Murphy (@BlakeMurphyODC) February 9, 2023
"The way I look at the deadline, it's really not a great place to make long-term decisions....in terms of some of the things we were getting."
Also says "we'll try" with respect to East pecking order. "Growth is not linear," "bumpy road."
Re: Poeltl addition for future assets, "We studied the draft a lot" and "I think it's something we've lacked on our team. On this team, I hadn't done my part maybe for this team to maybe play a little bit better. I think we needed a big like Jak."

Watch Live: Masai Ujiri addresses media after NBA Trade Deadline
"Sometimes we've played a little selfish. He's gonna pass the ball a little bit better for us. Knowing him, knowing his style of play, just knowing the guy, it already brings a little bit of spirit, seeing that."
— Blake Murphy (@BlakeMurphyODC) February 9, 2023
On triumvirate of UFAs this summer and feasibility of keeping them: "We are always focused on trying to retain our players." Says how they perform the rest of the season will be a part of the assessment.
— Blake Murphy (@BlakeMurphyODC) February 9, 2023
"I think Nick has done a great job. We've all acknowledged there are things we all need to do better." Once again goes back to talk of a big.

"These guys need to play one way or the other," Ujiri says on getting younger guys some playing time (or possibly 905, I guess)

this raptors trade deadline could have been an e-mail
— alex (@steven_lebron) February 9, 2023
If this is it for the Raptors, they'll enter free agency with a projected $68.4M beneath the luxury tax to re-sign VanVleet, Poeltl, and Trent, sign their 1st-round pick, and make any other additions.
— Blake Murphy (@BlakeMurphyODC) February 9, 2023
That's with Thad waived ($1M guaranteed) & Otto picking up his option ($6.3M)
Looks like the Raptors' deadline is over
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, it sounds like the only move the Raptors made at the deadline was their acquisition of Jakob Poeltl.
The Raptors never turned out to be sellers, adding Spurs center Jakob Poeltl on deadline day. They'll have to make some harder decisions in the offseason, but Masai Ujiri and Bobby Webster tested and learned more about the value of several players.

GP2 returning to Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are re-acquiring Gary Payton II from the Portland Trail Blazers for five second-round picks, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting.
This deal is being added onto a trade the Dubs were making with the Detroit Pistons for Kevin Knox.
Knox will now head to the Blazers as part of this transaction for Payton, who helped Golden State win a championship last year and now returns in hopes that his defensive chops will do much of the same this go around.

Hawks to keep John Collins past deadline
TNT and Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes is reporting that the Atlanta Hawks intend on keeping forward John Collins past the deadline.

Clippers stay busy, trade Reggie Jackson to Hornets for Mason Plumlee
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN is reporting that the Los Angeles Clippers are trading Reggie Jackson to the Charlotte Hornets for athletic big man Mason Plumlee.
The Clippers have been busy in the last hour of the deadline, and while Plumlee wil almost certainly be a solid backup to Ivica Zubac, it looks like the team now has a dearth of point guards with only real one on the roster being the newly-acquired 22-year-old Bones Hyland.

Lakers acquire Mo Bamba from Magic
The Los Angeles Lakers are trading for Orlando Magic centre Mo Bamba for Patrick Beverley and second-round compensation, The Athletic's Shams Charania is reporting.
This is just the latest in what has been a transformative deadline for the Los Angeles Lakers as they've seen the departures of Russell Westbrook, Beverley and Thomas Bryant and have brought in many new faces such as Bamba and D'Angelo Russell.
Sources said the Lakers are sending second-round draft compensation with Patrick Beverley to Orlando for Mo Bamba -- a major get for a reworked frontline around Anthony Davis and LeBron James. https://t.co/ZEqa6M4b4R

Clippers acquiring Eric Gordon in three-team trade with Rockets, Grizzlies
According to multiple reports, the Los Angeles Clippers are acquiring Eric Gordon for the Houston Rockets in a three-team deal that will see John Will return to Houston, accompanied by the Memphis Grizzlies' Danny Green. Clippers forward Luke Kennard will be heading to Memphis and the Clippers will be acquiring three second-round picks from the Grizzlies.
A complicated transaction, for sure, but, the main point of it all is that the Clippers have appeared to resolve their backcourt issues with the acquisition of Gordon and, in another move, Bones Hyland, while the Grizzlies have added some shooting on the edges in Kennard.
Warriors dealing James Wiseman to Pistons, Saddiq Bey to Hawks in multi-team swap
Former No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman is being traded to the Detroit Pistons as part of a multi-team trade that will also see Saddiq Bey land with the Atlanta Hawks, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN is reporting.
As part of the deal, Atlanta his sending the Warriors five second-round picks for the rights to Bey.
Later, Wojnarowski added that the Pistons' Kevin Knox would be heading to the Warriors as well.
Wiseman has had a rough start to his NBA career, only playing a total of 60 games across three NBA seasons, and will hopefully get more opportunity on the rebuilding Pistons.
Bey is a young, talented wing player whom Atlanta will hope get it out of its funk this season after it made a big off-season trade to pair Trae Young up with Dejounte Murray.
In another Atlanta move, Wojnarowski is reporting that the Hawks are trading Frank Kaminsky to the Houston Rockets for Garrison Matthews and Bruno Fernando.

Suns add depth with acquisition of Darius Bazley from Thunder
The Athletic's Shams Charania is reporting that young, promising power forward Darius Bazley is being traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Phoenix Suns for veteran Dario Saric and a second-round pick.
After making a big splash with their acquisition of Durant, bringing Bazley in doesn't look quite as flashy, but he should provide the Suns a lot of energy in its secondary and tertiary units.

One hour to go...
There's just one hour left to go and while the Toronto Raptors did make a big move to acquire Jakob Poeltl from the San Antonio Spurs, all the noise and smoke around names like O.G. Anunoby, Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr. at the deadline have so far not come to any fruition.
Is there another move that's still to be made by Masai Ujiri, Bobby Webster and Co.?
Westbrook would look to join Clippers or Heat if bought out
As The Athletic's Law Murray reported, recently-traded Utah Jazz guard Russell Westbrook isn't expected to remain in Salt Lake City for very long.
Westbrook is expected to be bought out and, according to Murray, his preferred destinations would be either the Los Angeles Clippers or the Miami Heat.
The Clippers are said to be looking for a point guard and the Heat have reportedly been interested in moving on from Kyle Lowry, so both spots could make some sense.
