Denver Nuggets MVP Nikola Jokic has passed the great Wilt Chamberlain for most triple-doubles in a single post-season.
Jokic recorded his eighth triple Monday in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers after collecting his 10th assist on a dunk from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope during the third quarter that gave the Nuggets an 82-81 lead, their first of the game.
Chamberlain had seven triple-doubles in 1967 when he led the Philadelphia 76ers to a championship.
Jokic finished the game with 30 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists — all team highs — as the Nuggets earned a 113-111 victory to sweep the Lakers and advance to the franchise's first-ever NBA Finals.
“I think that’s why playoffs are so nice and so interesting, because you don’t care about how tired you are,” Jokic said. “You don’t care about minutes, fouls, shots, percentage. You just want to win a game. Some plays today we weren’t playing good defence sometimes, (but) you can win it in every kind of possible way.”
