The Toronto Raptors’ Scottie Barnes has been ruled out against the Dallas Mavericks after missing Wednesday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets.
Toronto’s injury report continues to fill out, as Barnes joins Pascal Siakam, Precious Achiuwa, Otto Porter Jr. and Justin Champagnie as the players unavailable for Saturday’s game against Dallas. Fred VanVleet and Dalano Banton have both been upgraded to questionable after being absent against the Nets.
The reigning rookie of the year has been dealing with a left knee sprain that he picked up in a game against the Atlanta Hawks last Saturday. So far this season he has averaged 14.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game.
Siakam has been sidelined with an abductor strain since early November but was cleared for contact at practice on Friday. It was presumed that he would be returning to the fold sometime next week.
VanVleet missed Wednesday’s game against the Nets due to a non-covid illness. He also missed time earlier in the month due to an illness. So far this season the guard has averaged 18.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists and has shot 37.5 per cent from long range.
The Raptors are currently on a two-game losing streak and have lost their last four matchups against the Mavericks.
