The Toronto Raptors will be without both Khem Birch (illness) and Gary Trent Jr. (quad) when they take on the New York Knicks on Wednesday night, the team announced.
Trent Jr. will miss his fourth-consecutive contest with his quadriceps injury, last suiting up on Dec. 14 in the Raptors' 124-123 loss to the Sacramento Kings. Birch was a late addition to the inactive list after coming down with an illness, as he did play 23 minutes in Monday's loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.
The shorthanded Raptors will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday, as they take on a Knicks team that has won eight in a row. Meanwhile, the Raptors are headed the other way, losers of six in a row.
Trent Jr. has appeared in 25 games for the Raptors this season, averaging 16.9 points per game on 43 per cent shooting. Meanwhile, in the 18 games he's been active for, Birch is averaging just 2.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
