Gary Trent Jr. will opt into the final year of his contract with the Toronto Raptors, Sportsnet's Michael Grange confirmed on Tuesday.
Grange reports Trent would like to work on an extension with the Raptors. He could sign a four-year deal worth up to $113.6 million on July 6.
TNT's Chris Haynes was first to report on Trent accepting his player option.
The 24-year-old Minnesota native has been a Raptor since 2021.
Declining his 2023-24 player option would have allowed Trent to pursue a more lucrative deal.
Trent Jr. averaged 17.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 66 games for the Raptors this season.
Fellow teammate Fred VanVleet decided to test the waters of NBA free agency. The 29-year-old point guard opted out of his contract on Monday and will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
