The Toronto Raptors will be without Immanuel Quickley for their next contest against the defending NBA champions on Wednesday.
Quickley has officially been ruled out for the team's upcoming matchup against the Boston Celtics on Jan 15., the team announced Tuesday.
The news comes after the Raptors guard missed Monday's win against the Golden State Warriors with what was previously described as a hip injury. Quickley did not practice on Tuesday either. According to head coach Darko Rajakovic prior to their victory that snapped a five-game skid, the injury had been nagging the 25-year-old for a while and flared up Monday morning, hence his absence.
Rajakovic also noted that there was no specific play or moment, that the team is aware of when the injury occurred.
This is the latest setback in an injury-riddled campaign for Quickley. After signing a five-year, $175-million deal with the Raptors in the off-season, the lead guard has suited up just nine times.
Through his nine games played, Quickley is averaging 16.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game while shooting 37.6 per cent from the field and 33.3 per cent from three-point range.
The 8-31 Raptors will also be without rookies Ja'Kobe Walter and Jonathan Mogbo against the Celtics as they'll be on assignment with the 905 for G League duty. Eugene Omoruyi who is on a 10-day deal with Toronto, along with two-ways Jamison Battle, A.J. Lawson and Ulrich Chomche will also be out for the Raptors as they join the 905 on the road.
