The Toronto Raptors will have to survive a third game without their starting centre patrolling the paint.
Big man Jakob Poeltl has been listed as out for Sunday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies as he continues to deal with a back injury, the team announced Saturday.
Additionally, backup guard Jamal Shead has been listed as questionable with an illness.
Poeltl has missed the team's last two games — a 139-121 loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday and a 112-101 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday.
He suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the Raptors' loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. He played 24 minutes and went to the locker room early in the fourth before the team announced that he wouldn't return.
There wasn't one moment that seemed to force Poeltl from the contest, but the 30-year-old has been dealing with back pain since the pre-season.
The 30-year-old is averaging 6.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 0.5 blocks while shooting 59.1 per cent from the field in his limited showings this season.
Rookie Collin Murray-Boyles has replaced Poeltl in the starting lineup in both outings.
Shead, meanwhile, has been a steady contributor for the Raptors off the bench. The six-foot guard is averaging 6.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 0.5 steals in 17.2 minutes per game.
The second-year player finished with nine points, seven rebounds and four assists in 21 minutes during Friday's win over the Cavaliers.
