Toronto Raptors centre Khem Birch left Friday’s game against the Detroit Pistons after suffering a broken nose.
The Raptors said that Birch will return to Toronto to have surgery and will provide an update on his recovery timeline.
Birch suffered the injury in the first quarter after playing less than four minutes. Birch had a rebound and made a field goal attempt before leaving to get X-rays.
In 22 games this season, the 29-year-old is averaging six points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
