Raptors' Ochai Agbaji exits vs. Celtics with hand injury

The Toronto Raptors had to close out the game against the Boston Celtics shorthanded.

Wing Ochai Agbaji exited Wednesday night's contest early after suffering an apparent hand injury, with the team announcing that he would not return during the third quarter.

According to the team, Agbaji had to get three stitches on his right hand.

The injury occurred in the second quarter while trying to catch a pass in transition. He missed the catch, steadied himself by putting his hand on the floor, then seemed to grab at his hand after the play. He was seen bleeding afterwards and immediately returned to the team's locker room.

After the game, Agbaji told reporters that he re-opened an existing cut when his hand hit the floor.

Agbaji had five points, four rebounds and one assist in 12 minutes in the game up to that point.

The 24-year-old has had a solid breakout year for Toronto, averaging 10.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 29.3 minutes per game while shooting 50.9 per cent from the field and 40.4 per cent from three-point range.
