Toronto Raptors fourth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft Scottie Barnes is out for Monday’s game against the New York Knicks.
Barnes suffered a right thumb sprain during Saturday’s game against the Indiana Pacers. The Raptors announced that X-rays on Barnes’ hand came back negative, but the team will continue to monitor the injury.
“Just a sprain,” Raptors head coach Nick Nurse said prior to the game. “Don’t really have a timeline on it. Doesn’t seem awfully bad.”
With Barnes out, Svi Mykhailiuk will get the start. Canadians Delano Banton and Chris Boucher will also receive more playing time.
Through seven games in his young NBA career, Barnes is averaging 18.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, and two assists per game. Raptors two-way big man Justin Champagnie is up with the team from the G League and is available in Monday’s game.
