Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes has been named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month after his March and April campaigns, further pushing him towards a hopeful Rookie of the Year title win.
Barnes averaged 17 points, 7.6 rebounds and four assists per game on 51 per cent field goal shooting in the month of March, as well as recording 19 points in three consecutive games to kick off April to go along with recording double-doubles in wins against Atlanta and Philadelphia.
The win marks the second month in a row Barnes has taken home the honour, after sharing the award with Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey for February, where he ranked fifth among rookies in scoring averaging 15.2 points per game, fourth in rebounding averaging 6.8 per game, third in steals averaging 1.5 steals per game and ninth in double-doubles.
Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green was the Western Conference Rookie of the Month, averaging 22.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 48.4 per cent from the floor and 39.5 per cent from three-point range.
Green is the only Western Conference rookie other than Giddey to take the award this season.
