Toronto Raptors sophomore Scottie Barnes was on and off the court during a Saturday night matchup against the Miami Heat.
First, Barnes suffered a left shoulder contusion early in the second quarter, but ultimately returned to play. Then, later in the frame, he sustained an ankle sprain after awkwardly falling on Heat guard Tyler Herro following a made dunk attempt.
Barnes was in noticeable pain after the play, but stayed in the game to attempt the free throw he'd drawn before leaving the court. The Raptors later announced he would not return.
While he appeared to be faring better in the locker room following the game, Raptors head coach Nick Nurse told reporters that Barnes will undergo an MRI on the sprained ankle.
Before exiting, Barnes had 11 points, two rebounds and two assists in 13 minutes of play.
The 2021-22 rookie of the year was averaging 16 points, five rounds and five assists in two games entering Saturday's contest.
Rookie Christian Koloko initially took his position in the rotation, but was later ejected.
