  • Raptors' Siakam denied All-Star spot, Canada's Gilgeous-Alexander gets in

Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder has been named a reserve for the NBA All-Star Game while Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam has been snubbed.

Siakam, 28, was not on the list of reserves announced on Thursday for the Feb. 19 game in Salt Lake City, meaning no Raptors will play in the contest.

On a Raptors team (23-30) playing below expectations, Siakam is averaging 24.9 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.2 assists this season. He made his only All-Star appearance in 2020.

    The Hamilton-raised Gilgeous-Alexander, 24, is a first-time NBA All-Star.

The six-foot-six guard is fifth in NBA scoring, averaging 30.8 points per game to go along with 4.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists.

Gilgeous-Alexander becomes the fourth Canadian to be selected for an NBA All-Star Game, following in the footsteps of Jamaal Magloire, Steve Nash and Andrew Wiggins.
