Damian Lillard is reportedly going to be very particular about where he plays in the upcoming NBA season.
The Athletic's Shams Charania reported on Monday that the only two squads that Lillard would show up to training camp for are the Portland Trail Blazers and the Miami Heat.
"At this point, I'm told the only two training camps Damian Lillard would report to, in theory: Portland and Miami," Charania said on The Rally. "If a team like Toronto were to trade were to trade for Lillard, I do not believe Lillard would even report."
Lillard made a trade request to the Blazers on July 1st, and Charania believes that if the Blazers trade the star point guard anywhere other than Miami, that request would remain.
"That standing trade request would still be there if he were traded to a team like Toronto or anyone else, really, that wants to take a chance at this situation," Charania said.
Charania believes the Heat and Blazers will re-engage in trade talks as NBA training camps get closer and try and finally get a deal done.
Lillard, 33, has spent his entire 11-year NBA career with the Blazers.
He is coming off a season in which he averaged 32.2 points per game for the Trail Blazers. He is a seven-time All-NBA selection and was selected to the NBA's 75th anniversary team — but he has never been close to a title in his 11 seasons in the league.
