After firing a veteran coach on Thursday, the Phoenix Suns could be soon hiring another high-profile candidate for the role.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday that Mike Budenholzer is considered the front-runner to replace Frank Vogel.
Budenholzer, 54, was fired by the Milwaukee Bucks after a surprising first-round playoff loss to the Miami Heat in 2022-23. Two years earlier, he led the Bucks to an NBA championship.
Budenholzer coached the Bucks for five years following a five-year run as head coach of the Atlanta Hawks.
The Bucks won their division title in all five years with Budenholzer as coach.
Vogel was fired after one season as coach of Phoenix following a sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.
Vogel coached the Los Angeles Lakers to an NBA title in 2020.
Vogel was hired last summer with much fanfare and charged with leading the Suns' All-Star trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal.
