As the Cleveland Cavaliers try to save their season Wednesday night, it looks like they will be without their lead guard.
According to The Athletic's Shams Charania and Joe Vardon, Donovan Mitchell is expected to miss Game 5 against the Boston Celtics with a left calf strain.
Mitchell missed Game 4 of Cleveland's second-round series as it fell behind 3-1 to the Eastern Conference's top-seeded Celtics. He had been dealing with a left knee injury through the final few months of the NBA season, and then left Game 3 in the fourth quarter with the calf injury
He is averaging 31.7 points per game against Boston while shooting 53.3 per cent from three.
In the regular season, Mitchell averaged 26.6 points, 6.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game. However, he played in just 55 games after being slowed by the left knee injury. He sat out 16 of Cleveland's final 24 games in the regular season.
