Just days after getting back one star, the Cleveland Cavaliers seemingly have their starting lineup back.
According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Cavaliers guard Darius Garland expects to return from a jaw injury on Wednesday against the Detroit Pistons.
Garland has been absent since Dec. 14 when he suffered a fractured jaw after a collision with Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis. When asked on Monday when fans could expect the former one-time NBA All-Star to be back for the Cavaliers, head coach J.B. Bickerstaff said he was "extremely close" to returning.
The Cavaliers, who currently hold the fifth seed in the East, have a sparkling 15-4 record since Garland's absence. The 23-year-old's comeback is perfect timing for the red-hot team, as they also recently saw third-year center Evan Mobley return to the lineup on Monday's 118-108 victory against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Garland is averaging 20.7 points, 5.9 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game on 34.6 percent from three, and a career-best 47 per cent from the field in 20 games played this season. He is also swiping 1.6 steals per game, also a career high.
