The Indiana Pacers and All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton have agreed to a five-year contract extension that can be worth up to $260 million according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Haliburton was set to enter the final year of his rookie contract with the Pacers and the team decided to extend their star guard ahead of next summer when he would have hit restricted free agency.
Originally drafted by the Sacramento Kings in 2020, Haliburton was traded to the Pacers at the 2022 deadline alongside Buddy Hield and Canadian Tristan Thompson in the deal that sent Domantas Sabonis, Justin Holiday and Jeremy Lamb the other way.
He was named an All-Star for the first time last season after averaging 20.7 points and 10.4 assists in his first full year in Indiana.
The Pacers finished with a 35-47 record and just missed the playoffs. They've been adding to their roster this off-season, signing wing Bruce Brown in free agency and drafting forward Jarace Walker eighth overall earlier this month.
