Atlanta Hawks centre Clint Capela avoided serious damage to his knee but could still miss most of the team's first-round series against the Miami Heat, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Saturday.
Capela was injured in Friday's play-in game win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 27-year-old collided with the Cavaliers' Evan Mobley and fell to the court, clutching his right knee while in visible pain. Capela needed to be helped off the court and he did not return to the game.
According to Wojnarowski, Capela underwent an MRI on the knee Saturday that revealed he had no structural damage. The injury will be re-evaluated in one week, Wojarnowski added.
The loss of Capela will leave a big hole in the Hawks lineup against the East's best team. He averaged 11 points, 11.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 74 games.
In other Hawks injury news, forward John Collins has been upgraded to questionable for Game 1 and intends to play, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported. Collins has been out of the lineup since March 11 with injuries to his finger and foot.
The Hawks and Heat open their first-round series on Sunday.
