Jeremy Lin will reportedly be signing a deal in the NBA G League to play with the Santa Cruz Warriors, the Golden State Warriors‘ affiliate team, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Lin is making the move as he pursues an eventual NBA return, Charania noted.
In mid-December, Lin and the Warriors were thought to be nearing a contract agreement as well. The Warriors reportedly intended to sign and immediately waive Lin so he could join Santa Cruz in the G League. Terms of the deal were agreed to, but could not be completed without an international letter of clearance because Lin played in China last season. That letter was not acquired before the NBA’s waiver deadline, and the deal fell through.
Lin last played in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors during the 2018-19 season, averaging seven points and 2.2 assists in 23 regular-season games. He also featured in eight post-season games as the Raptors went on to capture the franchise’s first NBA title.
