Kawhi Leonard is back on the shelf according to The Athletic’s NBA insider Shams Charania.
The 31-year-old will reportedly miss the Los Angeles Clippers' Wednesday night tilt against the Golden State Warriors with a right ankle sprain he sustained against the Utah Jazz Monday night.
Leonard told reporters on Monday following the game that he had tweaked something, but that he was feeling “fine” and did not indicate that the issue would persist.
Wednesday’s game will already mark the 14th game that the Clippers superstar will sit out. The forward has already spent substantial time riding the pine while he recovered from lingering knee problems.
Leonard notably missed the entirety of the 2021-22 season recovering from a partially torn ACL that he sustained during the 2021 post-season.
In five games, Leonard has averaged 10 points, four rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while limited to just 22 minutes per contest.
Despite those lingering issues, the Clippers have nonetheless had a productive start to their campaign, sitting fourth in the Western Conference with an 11-7 record.
