Tom Thibodeau is staying in new work.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the New York Knicks and their head coach have agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2027-28 season.
Thibodeau, 66, was named head coach for the Knicks in July 2020 and led the Knicks to their first playoff appearance since 2013 in the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season. For this feat, he was awarded NBA's Coach of the Year honours.
Since his hiring, Thibodeau has led the Knicks to three playoff appearances in four years, including back-to-back trips to the conference semifinals.
A 14-year head coaching veteran, the Connecticut native has spent time with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves before joining the Knicks. He has a career win percentage in the regular season of .575.
