Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook is expected to play in the team's season opener against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes reports.
Westbrook injured his left hamstring in the Lakers' pre-season finale against the Sacramento Kings and was considered day-to-day.
Coming off the bench for the first time since he was a rookie, Westbrook entered midway through the first quarter in the Lakers' 133-86 loss to the Kings. He missed two three-pointers and had two turnovers.
In the 2021-22 season, his first with the Lakers, Westbrook averaged 18.5 points (his lowest total since 2009-10), 7.4 rebounds, 7.1 assists and a 29.8 per cent three-point percentage.
